Anthony Albanesefailed to answer a simple but pressing question at least four times during a fiery second electiondebate.

The Prime Minister and Peter Dutton clashed during ABC's leaders debate in Parramatta on Wednesday evening, hosted by Insiders presenter David Speers.

But it was Mr Albanese's multiple attempts to dodge a question bothering thousands of Australians that has been slammed by viewers.

‘You and (energy minister) Chris Bowen keep saying renewables are the cheapest form of power. When will we see our power bills come down?’ Speers said.

Mr Albanese claimed that ‘renewables are the cheapest form of power’, with no suggestion of a timeline, but Speers cut him off to ask the question again.

The Labor leader tried to criticise Mr Dutton’s nuclear plan but it failed to satisfy Speers.

‘Stick with your plan, Mr Albanese. When will the bills come down?’ he said.

The Prime Minister repeated the refrain that renewables are the 'cheapest form of power' whilst again taking aim at the previous government for higher gas bills.

During the second leaders debate, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese (pictured) failed to answer the simple question: 'When will we see our power bills come down?'

ABC host David Speers (pictured) doubled down on the Prime Minister's failure to answer the question, pressing him on a response four times before eventually moving on

'Gas is $13. It was $30 when we came to office; $13 is cheaper than $30,' Mr Albanese said.

Asked a fourth and final time when Aussies will see bills slashed, Mr Albanese stuck to his focus on the Labor government's renewable policy.

‘What we need do is to roll out renewables,’ he said.

‘[We need to] make sure there's energy security, make sure it's backed up by batteries, by hydro and by gas.’

Furious viewers took to social media to slam the Prime Minister's failure to give an answer to Speers' repeated question.

One described his responses as 'rambling'.

Others were still left asking when power bills would drop after the debate ended.

'He sidestepped every time….not a good look,' another said.

ABC viewers slammed the Prime Minister for not answering the question on everyone's lips

Addressing Australians' sky-high power bills is a key pillar in the Labor government's manifesto.

If re-elected, Labor has promised to give two further $75 reductions to power bills in the last two quarters of the year.

Before the 2022 election, Anthony Albanese had promised to bring down the price of power by $275, but this has been called a failure by the Opposition.
